Illini West softball surges to awesome st

This year has been considered a rebuilding year for the Illini West softball team as it saw several seniors from last year’s regional championship team graduate. Anyhow, The chargers are yet to skipped a beat, Winning 13 of these first 15 games.

Gronewold’s pitching combo is known for a pair of sophomores that are settling into the pressures of the circle.
Illini West’s pitchers aren’t the only underclassmen shinning on diamonds this season. The truth is, Five of Gronewold’s starting nine are often underclassmen.
Regardless of the odd youth of the Chargers, Illini West finds itself with possibly the best records around.
"I think we knew we were going to lose really tough seniors but we knew we that we were going to gain some freshman and that those freshman and juniors and sophomores were going to need to step up and for the spots of the seniors from last year, Said senior outfielder Hanna Spiekermeier.
Both of Illini West’s losses have arrived at the same team: Calhoun. Despite being outscored 7 2 by the protecting state champions, The Chargers are proud of playing the best to the wire.
