• liberal arts and sciences majors When the UK government launched its Decarbonisation and energy efficiency roadmap 2050 project – working with the UK’s eight most energy intensive manufacturing industries, including glass – British Glass saw an opportunity to develop a new type of relationship with policy makers. Friends and colleagues gathered to applaud worthy winners across seven categories – and recognise the creativity and dedication which underpin the whole sector’s contribution to the economy, to society and to customers, staff and stakeholders. The whiskey was inspired by masters and apprentices working together at the new Midleton micro-distillery, one of the oldest and most iconic distilleries in the world. The brand combines tradition and innovation to convey a sense of fun and excitement. It uses two opposing patterns throughout the packaging. The straight lines symbolise method and order and the stunning marbled patterns reference madness and liquid experimentation. British Glass is calling for seminar presentations, based on practical examples of large manufacturing businesses securing funding for improvement in energy efficiency and carbon reduction, for a one-day glass industry event in November 2017. “Our entry for this award is a thank you to them for their vision and willingness to do things differently. It’s also a thank you to BEIS for the courage and far-sightedness they have shown in working constructively with industry to fit their approach to the needs and circumstances of UK manufacturing.”
